Our second time in Peru with PeruVisit

This was our second trip to Peru! Back in 2014, we spent 11 days exploring the country. Thanks to the fantastic organization by PeruVisit and the helpful advice from Natalia Volchkova, we managed to see so much. We visited Lima, Machu Picchu, Cusco, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, and Puno. I’m so grateful to Natalia and all the guides who made that trip so memorable!

We’ve wanted to go back to Peru for years. This time, though, we were also visiting Ecuador (Quito, Galapagos) and Easter Island, so we only had a couple of days in Peru.

We traveled with friends (two couples) and spent two days in Peru. Through PeruVisit, we booked two tours: a flight over the Nazca Lines and a visit to the Museum of Engraved Stones, founded by Dr. Javier Cabrera. We didn’t get to see these places on our first trip, so we were excited!

Meeting Mr. Ernesto Cabrera, the director of the “Javier Cabrera Science Museum” and son of the museum's founder, was an unforgettable experience. His two-hour talk was fascinating! He shared so much about the museum, the Ica Stones, the Nazca Lines, and more. The museum itself, with its unique Ica Stones, left a lasting impression on all of us.

The Nazca Lines flight was also amazing. Seeing the lines from the air is such an indescribable experience!

Each time we visit Peru, it makes us want to come back again. There’s so much more to explore.

We’re really thankful to our guide, Olga Popova, who made the trip so interesting, smooth, and enjoyable.

A huge thank you to Natalia and Olga for organizing everything so well. We’ll definitely be using your services again in the future.

Would we recommend PeruVisit to our friends? Absolutely! We’ll be recommending Peru and PeruVisit to all our friends!

5-Star Peru Tour

My wife and I went on a private tour of the mountainous regions of Peru in November 2022, organized through PeruVisit. Living in Barcelona, we had long dreamed of visiting Latin America, particularly because the language barrier isn’t an issue for us.

Typically, I plan our travel itineraries myself—I enjoy selecting hotels, reading reviews, and contributing to platforms like TripAdvisor. However, this time we decided to go through an agency, and it was absolutely the right choice.

We opted for a 5-star package, steering away from group tours. Instead, we started with a sample itinerary from the agency’s website, which they customized to our preferences. For instance, we chose to spend two days in Lima instead of one, making our time there more relaxed and enjoyable.

In addition to the standard night in the Sacred Valley followed by 2–3 nights in Cusco, we extended our stay in Cusco to five nights. This allowed us to plan a free day and take two unforgettable treks to Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain. Visiting these spots was a priority for us, and the memories we made there will undoubtedly remain some of the most extraordinary of our lives.

The agency also suggested exploring Lake Titicaca from an upscale hotel. However, as train enthusiasts, we opted for the Andean Explorer train instead, even though it turned out to be slightly more expensive. We nearly ended up in a cabin with bunk beds, but fortunately, a twin-bed cabin became available at the last minute. It was a luxurious way to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes in total comfort.

It’s worth noting that there were a few moments when comfort wasn’t ideal. For example, we had to use a Hyundai H1 for a couple of long transfers. If I had been organizing the trip myself, I would’ve spent countless hours searching for more comfortable alternatives. However, the agency was upfront in explaining that this was simply the best option for that region.

One of the standout advantages of traveling with the agency was their adaptability. For instance, when a strike affected all national parks during our trip, they promptly rearranged the excursion dates and updated the itinerary for us. This level of flexibility would have been impossible on a self-planned trip.

Every guide and driver we worked with had our itinerary on a mobile device, and they were happy to assist with arranging additional activities upon request. The guides were exceptional—both the Russian- and Spanish-speaking ones. Their storytelling was engaging and lively, though our local female guide was particularly expressive, which added a special touch.

We were thrilled with the itinerary overall. By the final day in Arequipa, though, we felt so saturated with incredible experiences that even the fascinating tour of the Monastery of Santa Catalina felt a bit extra. It was as if we’d already had our fill of wonders.

In total, the tour lasted about two weeks, plus a comfortable journey via Paris. The trip struck a perfect balance—village and city, history and physical activity, luxury 5-star accommodations, and adventurous off-road drives in a Land Cruiser through rugged terrain on our way to treks.

Our deepest thanks go to the agency and their operators for their patience, dedication, and commitment to making our trip exceptional and stress-free. We’re already planning to return, perhaps to explore the Amazon or even tackle the Inca Trail next time.

Amazing Family Trip With a 5 y.o.

We had the most incredible trip to Peru, and it’s definitely one we’ll never forget! It all started when we snagged some tickets during a last-minute sale with AeroMexico (seriously, who can resist a deal like that?). Out of all the destinations, we randomly chose Peru, and wow, was it the right choice. I stumbled across PeruVisit while searching online, and from the moment we booked with them, everything just clicked. Natalia and Olga were awesome, super responsive, and the tour operator in Peru was amazing. Their guides really know their stuff, and anytime we needed to make changes on the fly, they handled it like pros.

Like with any big trip, especially with a five-year-old in tow, there were a few bumps along the way – flight delays, last-minute changes, that kind of thing. But every step of the way, we knew we had someone reliable watching our backs. They made sure we were covered, and that made all the difference.

We visited some truly breathtaking places: Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, Cusco, and more. For such a big trip with a little one, everything was so well organized. The hotels were way better than we expected, and the travel between locations was smooth and comfortable. By the end, we didn’t want to leave Peru at all!

We’ve already decided we’re coming back, and when we do, we’ll be booking with Olga and Natalia again. Huge thanks to both of you for making this trip so special!

Would we recommend PeruVisit to friends? Absolutely, yes!

I Couldn't Stop Being Amazed by the Stunning Landscapes!

I recently visited Peru, and this country has always fascinated me because, in such a small area, you can experience such diverse climates and landscapes. I’ve always dreamed of visiting the Amazon River, and the fact that the Andes are right there, along with the history of one of the largest civilizations in the New World, made Peru the perfect destination. My plan was to explore the mountains, do some hiking, and, of course, visit Machu Picchu. But honestly, the highlight for me wasn’t Machu Picchu itself—it was the four-day hike to get there! The whole trek was breathtaking. One of the most unforgettable moments was crossing a high pass (I don’t remember the name) where the snowy peaks suddenly gave way to jungle slopes, with clouds literally at our level—it felt like I could reach out and touch them. Truly magical! I had hoped to photograph the Milky Way since I heard the views from the mountains are some of the best, but unfortunately, the full moon was too bright.

After the trek, I spent a few days in Cusco and took part in an Ayahuasca ceremony with real shamans. It was my first time, and the experience was intense but very rewarding. Both the shaman and I were happy with the vision—it even gave me an idea for a tattoo. It’s an experience I’ll never forget!

Next, I finally fulfilled my childhood dream of exploring the jungle. I was really excited to see the incredible variety of plants and animals—pine trees and birch trees back home have nothing on the Amazon! I didn’t get to see a jaguar, but I did see pink river dolphins, tarantulas, piranhas, hummingbirds, and so many other creatures. There’s so much to see in the jungle beyond just the big trees and vines. And to my surprise, I finally managed to photograph the Milky Way! I didn’t expect to get such a great view in the jungle, but it was incredible, and the palm trees in the foreground made the photo even better.

My trip ended in Lima, Peru’s capital. I ended up staying longer than planned because of the COVID situation, but it didn’t feel like a problem. Lima is a fascinating city, especially its historic center. Just be careful to avoid certain poorer neighborhoods—I wandered into some by mistake, and kind locals kept advising me to leave! But overall, the city felt safe. I also made a local friend from Lima during my trek, and he gave me a personal tour of the city one day, which was great. Since Lima is on the Pacific coast, I also gave surfing a try for the first time. The waves were perfect, and after a few attempts, I actually managed to ride one! It was such a great feeling.

In short, this was an incredible trip.

Would I recommend PeruVisit to friends? Absolutely! A huge thanks to the PeruVisit team for organizing all my activities (except the surfing and hanging out with my new Peruvian friend). They were always available to answer my questions and stayed in touch throughout the trip.

I’m hoping to return once the COVID restrictions ease up and visit all the places I didn’t get to see this time around.
